Make the Right Choice Closer to You
About this episode
You order the pizza while already thinking about why you shouldn't, you keep scrolling past midnight while your body is begging for sleep, you keep putting off the conversation you know you need to have, why does this keep happening even when you know better?
This isn't a willpower problem, it's a distance problem, the worse choice is almost always closer, easier, cheaper and faster to reach, while the better one requires more planning, patience, effort, more of you.
Aristotle wrote about it over two thousand years ago, Akrasia, the strange and very human habit of knowing exactly what the better choice is and still choosing the other one.
Today we are reflecting about how to make the better choice, and separating the choice from the side effects that run alongside it.
What's the choice you keep making that you already know isn't the one you want?
Enjoy,
Hila
