The Credit You Keep Giving Away
About this episode
Taking credit for your success can feel harder than taking the blame for a mistake. We own every failure without question, yet give our achievements away to luck, timing, or circumstance. This episode looks at why we downplay our achievements. It explores why an even split with luck is the same old thought-rule wearing a more reasonable number, and what Nietzsche said about outgrowing an old version of yourself. Giving yourself credit for the work you did is a matter of fact, rather than ego. Luck can open a door, but you are the one who walks through it.
In this episode, I cover:
- Why we downplay our achievements and credit luck instead of effort
- The even split with luck that sounds fair and still shortchanges your hard work
- Learned smallness, and the disbelief it grows from
- A step by step reflection to find the ambition underneath the thought-rule
- Nietzsche on outgrowing the version of you that learned to shrink
Enjoy,
